Calculation of Required Cells for An AHU

Air Velocity = Face Area x Air Flow
- Air Velocity in cubic meter / hour
- Face area of AHU in square meter
-Air flow in meter / hour

Example:

Air Velocity of AHU = 26200 CMH
Electronic Cells Quantity = 18 pieces
Effective Area / Cell = (Cell Height x Cell Width)
= 0.500 x 0.314 = 0.157 square meter
Effective Area of 18 Cells = 0.157 x 18 = 2.826 square meters
Air Flow = (Air Velocity + Face Area) = (26,200÷2.826)
= 9271 M/hr (2.57 M/s)


How to Find Out The Required Number of Cells?

1. See your air flow (CMH) for your air handling unit.
2. Draw a horizontal line from your air flow to air velocity line.
3. Draw a vertical line from intersection point to required cells line.
The number you meet is the cells quantity required for your AHU at 2.5 M/s Air Velocity.
